Harnessing the vast energy potential of offshore winds: Lillgrund, Sweden’s
biggest offshore wind farm
(
photo, page 28). The heavy foundations posed a special challenge which was successfully
mastered by HOCHTIEF
Construction. The demanding project includes 48 large wind turbines and a
transformer station.
Today, the wind farm generates 350 gigawatt-hours a year—enough electricity to
serve a community of 60,000 households (

renewable energy source saves 300,000 metric tons of carbon emissions a year
compared with conventional energy.
